treasure island – personal/location scouting

i was first alerted to the awesomeness of treasure island while browsing through photos on flickr. some guy on there had a bunch of photos of various locations in the bay area, including treasure island. when i saw that set of photos, i knew i had to get my butt over there immediately – his photos were full of abandoned, dilapidated buildings, graffiti, and awesome textures…all of which are a photographer’s dream. so one day, i grabbed my friend elaine, who is starting to get into photography and wanted to snap some photos herself, and headed over to the island. it was a bit windy out there, but we had fun finding lots ot take photos of!

i didn’t find a lot of the stuff that were in those flickr photos, as i suspect much of those areas have been fenced off or boarded up, but i did find a several gems myself.

to share…

love the texture on this building…

we both loved this blue wall/door…

we loved the little bird on this wall, and how it matched the shoes!

oooh, cool graffiti!!

i totally freaked when i saw this old school gas station.

little did i know, it would get even better, because i walked behind it and i found this awesome abandoned truck!! i REALLY freaked out when i saw that!

then we walked into one of the open doors and found this… (unfortunately, the next time i went there, it had been boarded up. poo)

more graffiti!

SUCH a cool place. went back to shoot there for a photo swap with trude, and excited to go back for more shoots! totally awesome backdrop for photos – especially if you like a funky, kinda urban look! i hope you’ll consider it as the place to do your session!
