when lee first e-mailed me to set up her session, she wrote “your photography style and my personal style mesh.” that’s when i knew we were going to get along quite well, and i was right! we appreciated a similar aesthetic, and i loved that she was willing to be different and not do exactly what everyone else was doing! lee needed some fun, casual photos of herself to use for online stuff, so we headed out to noe valley for her shoot, which was her idea. it was a great little spot – lots of color and charm, and the storefronts were so cute! i had fun walking around with her and just hanging out with her!
some faves 🙂
we both dug the purple walls in front of this cafe!
i LOVED this blue door! it just pops, and her purse looks awesome in front of it!
we both saw these banners and said “let’s shoot in front of them!” woot! 🙂
funny story: we were shooting in this doorway, and one of the occupants of the building came out. she gave us a weird look, but she was fine with it.
i love this top! lee bought it while she was waiting for me.
thanks, lee! it was a blast!
jared isn’t a huge fan of having his picture taken (but then again, who is?). but his mom’s birthday is coming up, and after some strong hinting from her for an updated portrait of him, he decided to have some photos taken for her gift. jared wanted to avoid at all costs the cheesy-looking, stiff studio type of shot. good thing, because i try to avoid that look too. we bonded over a mutual love for steve carrell and the office (i have a crush on jim, he has a crush on pam) – in fact, he explained to me that what he DIDN’T want was a photo of him looking like the wide-eyed, deer-caught-in-headlights look of steve carrell on the cover of the 40-year-old virgin DVD cover:
yeaaaaaaaah, i was evil and was *just* quick enough to capture this expression when i told him to make that face. heee 🙂
but i promise you the rest of the shots from his sessions look nothing like that!
(he kept apologizing for laughing, but i loved it because it ends up in natural expressions like this!)
thanks, jared! hope you and mom like the pictures!
i was honored and nervous when kae-chy e-mailed me to set up a session, as she is a photographer herself. she wanted some photos of herself to use on her website. she also some shots of her with her family, since she’s always behind the camera and rarely in front of it – something a lot of photographers can relate to. they live in campbell, so we decided to do their shoot in the downtown area – it’s such a cute little town! this was such a fun family – kae-chy has the most ADORABLE kids EVER. wouldn’t you agree?
kae-chy herself is a cutie. the camera absolutely loved her!
thanks for letting me photograph you and your family!

this is betty. she needed photos for online stuff, of herself doing her favorite things.
she loves hanging out at home…she lives in the cutest little place!
i LOVE that chair!!! her roommate got it at a thrift store.
she has this awesome red wall in her room!
we also took some photos on the patio…
she enjoys wine…
and is an awesome piano player!!!
she also enjoys reading.
betty is also a runner. one of her favorite spots to go is glen canyon park, which is a great park! we took a walk around the place, and spent some time shooting.
thanks, betty! you are fabulous! i enjoyed spending time with you and taking pictures of you! good luck in your ventures!!
calvin needed some headshots for a new project of his, so we headed out to stern grove for a quick session. it’s so peaceful there – lots of trees and green! unfortunately, it was quite chilly on the day of his session, but we made it work!
good luck in your venture, calvin!
i was able to sneak in a couple of maternity photos for jenni while i was shooting her family photos. she’s expecting her third in about a month – almost there!
(the very cliched heart on belly shot. but i had to do it, lol)
(i caught this moment when i was taking photos of the kids. so sweet.)
jenni, you make a beautiful pregnant woman! you definitely have what they call “the glow”! thanks for letting me document this stage of your life!
