the walldez family – sibling session

i had such a FUN time photographing these 5 siblings while i was in so-cal. these guys wanted to take pictures to give as a gift to their mom for christmas – what a sweet idea. i loved hanging out with them one afternoon – they were up for anything and weren’t afraid to ham it up for the camera! lisa, who is wearing the black scarf, is the oldest, and david is the youngest at 6…but whatever difference there is in age, they are still one tight-knit clan who all watch out for each other, and i love how that was captured in the photos. we headed out to caltech, which is such a cool campus – love how nerdy everything is – some of the fountains are modeled after molecules, DNA and viruses! totally cool. it’s also totally pretty, with lots of grass, cool arches, and awesome buildings.

i have WAY too many favorites to share with y’all from this shoot.

love me a family who is up for an awesome jump shot:

read, get set….

JUMP!!!

totally hamming it up:

this fountain is supposed to be a DNA helix:

and this one is supposed to be some sort of virus:

brady bunch style:

individual shots:

we were trying to get david to laugh, when one of these guys told him to try to touch his nose with this tongue. we then had everyone else try it too. LOL. too hilarious!

they love being silly:

lisa brought along a pack of bubbles for everyone to play with, and of course the youngest was the best at it!

but everyone else tried, as well…

manly men:

sisterly love!

the older kids:

still hamming it up:

thanks, guys!!! i had a blast with y’all! hope your mom likes her gift!

bianca and patrick – engagement session

bianca has been a reader of my personal blog for a while, and i was super excited when she asked me to take her engagement photos when i was in so-cal. she and her fiance, patrick, are super duper sweet! looking at these photos, you can tell how HAPPY they are! it makes me smile looking at them. 🙂

we walked around old town pasadena, starting off shooting in their awesome alleyways, then moving on to the colorado street bridge (aka “suicide bridge”), and then the outside of the norton simon.

i had WAY too many favorites from their session…i tried to narrow it down to just a few, but i failed. here they are!

we risked our lives and jumped into the middle of the road for this shot! heee 🙂 we had maybe 10 seconds to jump into the street and back to the sidewalk, before a car approached. it was worth it 🙂

as our last stop, we snuck in a few shots in front of the norton simon.

the nguyen family – family session

this was a session i did while i was down in so-cal.

i met linda through the scrapbooking industry, where we served on a couple of design teams together. we formed a friendship over the years, and have spent lots of time on google chat, discussing our mutual love for paper, the dodgers, the shins, and the office.

i was so excited when she asked me to take her family photos, especially because she had recently had an adorable baby boy and i was dying to photograph him! we headed out to old town pasadena, and braved the almost 100-degree heat.

my favorites –

i hesitated in posting these for a while…a week or so after these photos were taken, linda became very ill and was admitted to the ICU, where she still remains now. she has spent most of the time unconscious and on a breathing tube, and has not made it out of the dark quite yet.

please keep this beautiful family in your thoughts.
